JOIN THE PA GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT
PA does not have a law which mandates that a RN circulates for surgical procedures. AORN through a grassroots movement is supporting such a law. The RN Circulator bill in PA is being redrafted and is expected to be out of the drafting office by the end of September. The PA House Human Services Committee is expected to read this bill and vote on it shortly after receiving it. In PA there is a grassroots effort supported by AORN to keep this bill moving. Because of this the AORN Government Affairs has a legislative advocacy tool that all member may use to keep updated on this issue and other issues going on in PA and in other states. To access this tool, use the state map on the Government Affairs web site (aorn.org) and click "Get involved". You will be taken to a state specific page where you can learn who your state and federal legislators, regulators, and other officials are so you can contact them. If there is an active issue within your state, a "button" will be posted on the state page by Government Affairs that will tell the members to take action.
